just rented a property
would like to know any tips after having signed as tenant for a rental? what papers should I have on hand? how can I avoid getting news and results of the landlord backing out of the contract several days before move-in date? ( it has happened to my family before with another agent but we left it alone....ended up sleeping at a friends house until we found a place but we didnt have our furniture with us...this time we do!)
apart from the fee the company takes on signing of contract ( administration ) and taking your deposit and first month rent...is there anything else I will be charged except inventory?
basically, any tips to avoid frustration and unpleasant surprises down the road?
thanks!
JR

Hi mate, Once you have
Hi mate,
Once you have paid your admin fee, 6 weeks and deposit and first months rent up front that is absolutely everything you need to pay.
If the landlord chooses to pay for a check in then you will have to pay for a check out on departure.
In terms of references all you need is an employment reference, previous landlord/character reference, 3 months bank statements and a copy of your identification.
If you cannot get the work and previous landlord references yourself Foxtons will chase these up for you but we usually find it better if you ask your HR director rather than us.
Make sure you ask when the landlord is signing there side of the paperwork. This is usually once your references are in as they like to see that you have the potential to pay the rent. This will avoid you being homeless again.
Any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
