Just had job interview at Foxtons OMG!!!

Had an interview yesterday with Foxtons and Oh My God! i've never seen such operation. Its like something out a George Orwell book. Applyed for a job online on tues, got a call on weds for an interview on thursday....pretty quick but hey, maybe i called up at the right time when a position had just become available. Oh no. They just continuously hold these interviews. Was told before it would be a group interview so wasnt particulary looking forward to it. Got there 15 mins early and was transported up to the main offices straight away where virtually everyone else was already there. Strange, where they all even earlier than me? They place u at a table take ur i.d (passport, driving license etc) put a name tag on you and get you to fill in another form while they stand there, watching, listening and making notes of your interaction with the others on your table.

Next we taken along a series of corridors to a meeting room for a presentation where we were offered drinks including beer, so thoughtfully laid out in a ice bucket with a lime in the top. You'd be wise to stick to the water or the coke as its obviously just another test. Anyway the presentation was the usual bullshit about how successfull the company is, how much fun and money you will make being with such a market leading company. They showed us pictures of those dreadfull Foxton branded Mini Cooper cars the cut you up at junctions all over London and pictures of high end BMW's for the good sellers... blah blah blah yawn yawn yawn!!

After they had judged us proficiently  we were told we would be able to have a one on one interview with a manager, we stood in the room in 3 groups until we got a tap on the shoulder to tell us we could be interviewed now. Some people who were deemed not good enough didnt get the shoulder tap....noticably the beer drinker didn't so be warned. Interview was fine, pretty much like any other interview, then we left, all a bit shocked at the whole operation. Got a call today saying would like to see me again but turned them down flat.

and after reading some of the posts on here i'm very glad i did

funny how you applied to

funny how you applied to work for foxtons, but now you slag them off. i bet you didnt even get offered the job, more like they turned you down...and now your still on the dole...

well if it makes you feel

well if it makes you feel better to think that then do.

i admit i should have done more research into a company that i'm applying to work for. I stupidly just navigated straight to their website instead of entering 'foxtons' onto google. Then i might have seen the 'we hate foxtons' and all the other bad reports posted online about the company.

From what i hear the foxtons business is in a terrible state and about 2 more law suits away from bankruptcy anyway so the dole is where all the other ruthless, amoral, tools who work there will be in a matter of months : )

jobs at foxtons

I dont think 22k , company car, laptop, phone and expenses is a bad package... even if you do the initial six months! COME ON.... LETS BE REAL.... IT TAKES A TRUE SALESPERSON TO WORK FOR THEM AND ITS SALES PEOPLE WHO EARN 5 - 10 K PERMONTH... HARD CORE WORKING LIFE BUT IT REWARDS. NOW STOP SLAGGING FOXTONS OFF (JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT A MINI) AND GO DO SOME WORK YOURSELVES YOU BUNCH OF LAZY W**N%ER"

Ha ha ha!! 22K?

Would not get out of bed for that!

Ah but you'll type some crap

Ah but you'll type some crap on a pointless forum... oops, you got me

No Thanks £22K isn't enough

No Thanks £22K isn't enough Police Comunity Support Officers make £25K in the met police in london, Computer Technicians make £25k - £35K and Nurses only make £16k or less.

you are a retard. i worked

you are a retard. i worked at foxtons and it was sick! banter banter banter. you obviously can't handle interviews. drinking alcohol wasn't a test either - it was to see if you can banter it up. i was in notting hill and loved it. real good comaraderie. you're just gutted because you didn't get a job there......i would never work at any other estate agents because foxtons are the best (and yes I worked at hamptons international in kensington so i can compare and they were terrible). happy job hunting in this difficult economic climate.

interview with foxtons tommorow

i have an interview (the group one) tommorow. I have done a lot of research and i like the competition.... that is sales i believe

Any advice from exFoxtons employees..?

Foxtons staff can't take a bit of banter

Banter? I worked at Foxtons and the banter is non existent.

I once tipped a bottle of blue WKD over a colleagues head in the pub and he started crying and reported me to the boss.

Explained to the boss it was just a bit of banter (oi oi) and the twat actually said "WHAT IS BANTER?"

Could not believe it the banterless ****!

Don't work for Foxtons if you fancy a bit of banter.

haha

I know who you are Andy!

SMAC

I have just applied for the

I have just applied for the role as a New Business Receptionist. Has anyone got any information of this role and if its as bad as the sales roles advertised? i've just graduated and am taking a gap year so just want something to tie me over for a while to earn money. Or any information on the Property Management role?

 Thanks

What about the dreaded Credit Crunch!

5
Yes the credit crunch that threatens all businesses that are not doing well in the economic food chain, and one day I can see foxtons becoming bankrupt and the local councils acuiring those properties that did sell. Or another estate agent will aquire them legally. But anyway I wouldn't work for them if I knew £22K + Laptop + Company Car, I would rather work as a Bailif because they make considerably more than a estate agent working for foxtons and it's corrupt business practices. Even PCSO's (Police Comunity Support Officers) in London's Metropolitan police make £25K which is still more than foxtons.

you are a retard. i worked

Are you now banged up or why if it's so wonderful are you not there now, not difficult to work out who you are and if we are right you were fired for the worst sales figures on recond.

hahahaha

Clearly Foxtons employee's visit this site more than anyone else...what losers! 22k starting salary is fine, but let's face it the company has virtually zero progression. Foxtons job is to sell and clearly they sell their bullshit promises to the people they hire. AHAHAHAHAHAHA

I started on 22k, within 4

I started on 22k, within 4 months I was on 34k and I finished the year on nearly 70k.  Money isn't everything, no, but the opportunity to work hard, do well and be happy, yes, it has done that.  Oh, all the thanks they gave me was one on one mentoring, a BMW 325, 4 holidays and about 500 in additional bonus'... Work hard and it will come, don't work hard and bitch about it.

To the interviewee at the top of the page...

You say you got called back for a second interview.  Bollocks... If you were you they would have offered you the job immediately.  I reckon you didn't get the job and you are pissed off as a result.  There is one way to find out.  Give me you surname and first initial and I will ring Fran the recruitment director and find out if you were offered a second interview - i am sure you wont! lol

BTW the beer is not a test.  I had 2 beers at my interview 5 years ago and stayed for 4 years - had a blast.  It is only people that fail the interviews, get sacked or cannot sell that slag the business off.  If you can sell and you can charm you can make a small fortune at a very young age.  If tenants and clients are complaining, then that is fair enough, but a decent salesman who leaves Foxtons wont be slagging them off as he/she will not be bitter.  Probably faitly well off with a couple of flats at the age of 25!

Idiots...

Hilarious

What a moron! Couple of flats my a****! Is that what they tell you in your clap-happy group interview???

"I had two beers at my interview five years ago" - Were you sick and sent home in a taxi??

Get back in your hole mate - your opinion means fcuk all to the people that you scum rip off! Feed this back to "Fran" if you like, I bet she's a princess!

:-)

she is actually quite

she is actually quite HOT....

Yeah, I had a few beers...

Yeah, I had a few beers... not a test unless you have no strength of character, or maybe if you're an alcoholic...

To the above....

Hahaha...you guys are so fooled by foxtons, thinking you're going to make it big and have loads of flats...even if a small percentage do, you probably lost all your friends doing it. That is the type of people foxtons grow...greedy people who lost their friends on their way to what they wanted, whereas most people in business make friends you guys probably lose them.

Also you guys just thing it's a monopoly game, but it's not this banter and glamourized attitude whilst dealing with peoples homes...their lively hoods that they spent years paying for....and then you think you agents can just make money on what people earnt...by making them give in to shit deals.

Foxtons have tarnished all estate agents, no one trusts people like you....you are about as dodgy as car salesmen, and if you think it's great your making so much money.....it just shows your ignorrant arrogance...I'm only 18 and I think you guys are scum of the earth.

great! you probably have a couple of flats at 25 with a 100% mortage on all of them you cheap bastards!! Typical foxtons agent....living for the now! hahahaha

TO; To the above (27/8)

Mate, your 18 years old, I bet you are one of those people who think they know it all, but in actual fact ain't got a clue; I am sure you have trouble telling your arsehole from your ear hole!

I think your just about old enough to work in selling properties, so when you have done that then you are in a position to make a valid comment, you jumped up little ****! Jog on!!

you are a little mental

you are a little mental aren't you? And maybe a little stupid?  Or is that medical?  Just wondering - there are help lines you know, a friendly ear in your hour of need.  Crazy 18 yr old, you've got your whole life ahead of you.  Don't spoil it by opening your mouth x

To all you lot that speculate

I would just like to say that I worked for Foxtons for nearly 3 years, and yes it is a very challenging environment, but if you are prepared to work, then you will get rewarded both in career progression and financially. But it is those people that feel that they can just do the bare minimum and get by are those that are soon identified, so if you cannot do a hard days work then forget applying!

I personally wouldn't work for them again, but what people need to realise is that whether you like it or not, Foxtons is an unrivalled business machine in the environment and the skills that you acquire both professionally and personally are most certainly transferrable in any other working environment and for that I am grateful.

For the muppet who said he wouldn't get out of bed for 22k, a car, phone, and laptop, I think they are above their station! Either they like making comments on forums that they have no knowledge of or they feel that they can get what they want handed to them on a plate! I ask, would you get out of bed for 6K a months after Tax? Because with hard work, and ultimately some luck you can achieve that: if not you are more of a Knob that I thought, and good luck to you!

Anyway, I think they are like marmite, you either like them or hate them, but to comment on the everyday workings in the company as an employee, with out actually working for them, those people need to get back in their box; because if you really want to work in the industry, you're not going to get a more recognised stepping stone than Foxtons...

Very true...

I think the comment above is well thought out and very true.

To the other people above that who argued against my comment posted on 27/08/09 at 11:29, that is fair enough - you have your opinions.

Like most companies, only the top 5% earn top money.  In fact I would suggest that only the top 10% at Foxtons earn over £40-50k per annum and only the top 30 earn £70-100k.  But it is attainable, I and many other people managed it.  You just have to work hard and be good at your job.  I think if you lined up the top agents at Foxtons next to all the other local agents you would be surprised just how much more knowledge they would have.  Bear in mind that without question Foxtons hold more stock on their books per office than any other agency in the UK (that is fact BTW), so therefore we would see more properties and therefore have to deal with more unusual sales and lets (repossesions, short leases, properties with subsidence, absentee landlords etc etc...).  I am sure if you walked into a local agent and asked them to explain the various ways of carrying out a lease extension and the costs involved, they would not have a clue - a number of Foxtons staff would and tell you everything you would need to know.

BTW I'm not 18 yrs old, I'm 23 and I have 3 flats not 2!  As for them being on 100% mortgages. Even stupid people know that for the last year or two 100% mortgages have not been available to end users or BTL investors...

Oh and the guy/girl who commented about Fran didnt give me a surname!  Funny that...lol

BTW if any of you guys are looking for jobs my business is recruiting at the moment and we will need 5-10 sat by Xmas for a range of roles.

And to the arrogant prick that said he would not get out of bed for £22k - I bet you would if you had a mortgage to pay, a kid to feed or car food to put on the table - rather than just bein able to lie in at your Mum and Daddy's house punchin your nuts before watching Jeremy Kyle in the morning.  If I lost everything tomorrow, I would clean the streets or the toilets just to ear a living and keep my pride.

Reply to "Very True"... Ha ha ha!!!

"And to the arrogant prick that said he would not get out of bed for £22k "

etc etc etc BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

I still would not work for Foxtons fella - and I certainly would NOT work for 22K - I would get a job that requires an education (like my current one) as opposed to one that employs idiots making comments such as "Punchin your nuts", who blow off at the sight of a sh1t Mini One, wearing dodgy suits and five haircuts on one head!

Oh and before you start quoting finance -

"Even stupid people know that for the last year or two 100% mortgages have not been available to end users or BTL investors... "

there may be people on here that actually have a bit more knowledge about that sort of thing than some 23 year old g1mp letting flats!! :-) - Know what I mean?? You might make yourself look aven more stupid than you already do!

This site is brilliant - keep it coming!!

ur business recruiting for Xmas

So u're looking for people? What's ur business? Don't worry, am not a recruiter just interested in alternative jobs to Foxtons.

Liz

Very true.....

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I found your post very informative.  It's like everything in life, if you're willing to work hard then you'll be rewarded!

In this current economic climate, £22k + commission is better than nothing and especially if you have a mortgage to pay and family to feed then it's a big help!!!

Also, you mentioned that your business is recruiting. Do you have any contact details?

Thanks

to all the foxtons employees present and past

I love the fact that the 'wehatefoxtons.com' website attracts so many loyal foxtons workers who seem so uptight, angry, immature and personality-less but at the same time really defensive about Foxtons.... is this not the sadest thing ever?!

You work 8-8 6 days a week...for £22 grand.... ARE YOU JOKING? You have to be the biggest moron ever to do this... even if you do earn 6k a month (which the majority of Foxtons monkeys do not) that only equates to £25 an hour.... and you have ONE DAY off a week to spend it, good one.

And as for pride... When you sign up to Foxtons you agree to lose all pride, personality if there ever was any, friends and fun. You only have one day a week free, so it doesn't really matter.

I have just had a massive payout from my legal battle from Foxtons and will be investing it into my 12th property...

What was that a Foxtons worker bragging about 3 flats... you work for an estate agent for three years and only own three flats... you've made it, really.

Foxtons will eventually fizzle out into loserville....bring it on!

actually, I think it's more

actually, I think it's more like £36 per hour, before tax of course.  I think that's not too bad if we're supposed to be like, totally stupid man.  The more you learn, the easier it gets, the the less hours you sacrifice.  And let's be honest - you do not have to spend years kissing ass, to hope that you get a promotion and prey you'll get a pay rise - you want to make money, go and make money.

Used to work at Foxtons

Hey there,

I used to work at foxtons a while back, i was sold into working from them, having come in as a Sales Manager from and events/Business Information background and took a huge paycut to join them.

The Director that interviewed was a South African like me and sold me into working for them and had no idea what the workload entailed. I understood that i would be bring on properties in the lettings and Sales Markets, and that was it. But basically it's just a numbers game which requires no sales skills over the phone, it is just a consulting role with a lot of luck involved and also the ability to build a very succesful pipeline of property developers which takes a good year or two, of which you would only get those leads once a colleague has moved on and surrendered his leads. The job is flawed in this way, there is no responsibilty and there is no motivation, the team leaders and the music just irritated me. being treated like a slave to push to achieve results did not work as i was not built to work in such an antagonising environment.

So this is my message to Jean Jameson, the director who hired me, i am sorry that i was not able to be that person who could succeed in this environment, i had let you down on my abilities. I am now a very succesful Sponsorship Director working for a reputable Events Company, all i can say is that it was unfortunate that i had not clicked. But it was all for the best i assume, there are a lot of d**cks at Foxtons but there are a lot of good guys just like you and me.

All im trying to say is dont judge the people who work there too harshly, its just the machine thats at fault.

 All the best

Abs
