inside story

Hello All,

randomly came across this site and think its hilarious there are that many people that hate Foxtons! haha.

im an ex employee, lasted a year and a month and foxtons was my first job coming out of Uni. I wanted to give people another insight into the company hoping to explain some of their methods of working

I applied to the job via a friend already working for Foxtons. I made it onto the training course with 15 other people and told we had nbeen selected from over 1000 people to join (1st lie of many). Of the 15 people on my course, i was the last one to leave foxtons after year and a month. Foxtons prey on young, intelligent graduates coming out of uni and wanting to start earning asap. You turn up to their swanky head office, impressed with the fat ties and tailored suits and you obviously want a piece of it! Once you start realising they are expecting you to work 8am - 8pm and every Saturday you start to lose the faith. when i joined my base salary was £10k/ year + commission. As a graduate you dont know jack about the real working world and someone says you can earn this, well you're going to believe them!

Yes Foxtons are good at what they do (sell lots of properties) but you have to bear in mind their competition is rubbish!! The company was started by John Hunt who only started the business because he was banned from trading in the City for dodgy deals!! The branches are similar to a trading floor with 3 hour outgoing call targets a day the norm, weekly and monthly targets and absolute ridicule for failing to hit those.

FYI - anyone selling through foxtons - they will always say "we will put it on for this price but after X amount of viewings we will have a better understanding of the true market value" Back at the branch we are told to "flood" new houses with viewings get in as many people as possible (even if they blatantly arent going to buy the house) so we can then 'justifiably' phone the vendor back up and say sorry need to knock the price down, before selling it easier. its a great con - foxtons get lots of people through the door, then use that as ammunition to drop the price and sell it easier.

Foxtons do not work for the vendors!! foxtons work for foxtons.

There are good people at Foxtons, foxtons do employee good people but then they are forced to adopt the company policy of shafting absolutely everyone possible to make sure you hit your targets. Hence why not that many people stay that long and the staff turn over is horrendously high!

??

Not true... and you can't spell so maybe you should go back to Uni!

TRUE!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr I. Workatfoxtons

Your grammer is not so great, certainly not the Queens English you arogant jump start. You cannot spell has a better ring to it.

Foxton's ARE theiving munny grabbing cheats!!! It has been proven time and time again, caught by the media, the wealthy etc.

I think the Judges who held court during Foxton's various LOST court cases would agree, unless your saying that the Judges involved do not know their job??!!

If so you are mor of an ignoremas than i thort.

Please do feel the need to act as my dictionary, as I know you love to correct and comment on mispelling LOL.

Absolutely no kind regards

Miss I. Trulydetestunderhandestateagents xx

What motivated you to work there?

HI!

I'm writting a course work for my uni and we choose Foxtons because it's a leading company. Foxtons had really bad press lately but it interest me why do people work there if it is so unconvenient and such a big pressure? What was your motivation to work there? Was it only money and the holiday packages what atracted you or the challenge what lied ahead? Also it would interest me what made you leave the company ? And if you could make any changes which would those be?

It would be really great to hear somebody's opinion who worked there!thanks

Just had interview at Foxtons OMG!!!!!

Had an interview yesterday with Foxtons and Oh My God! i've never seen such operation. Its like something out a George Orwell book. Applyed for a job online on tues, got a call on weds for an interview on thursday....pretty quick but hey, maybe i called up at the right time when a position had just become available. Oh no. They just continuously hold these interviews. Was told before it would be a group interview so wasnt particulary looking forward to it. Got there 15 mins early and was transported up to the main offices straight away where virtually everyone else was already there. Strange, where they all even earlier than me? They place u at a table take ur i.d (passport, driving license etc) put a name tag on you and get you to fill in another form while they stand there, watching, listening and making notes of your interaction with the others on your table.

Next we taken along a series of corridors to a meeting room for a presentation where we were offered drinks including beer, so thoughtfully laid out in a ice bucket with a lime in the top. You'd be wise to stick to the water or the coke as its obviously just another test. Anyway the presentation was the usual bullshit about how successfull the company is, how much fun and money you will make being with such a market leading company. They showed us pictures of those dreadfull Foxton branded Mini Cooper cars the cut you up at junctions all over London and pictures of high end BMW's for the good sellers... blah blah blah yawn yawn yawn!!

After they had judged us proficiently  we were told we would be able to have a one on one interview with a manager, we stood in the room in 3 groups until we got a tap on the shoulder to tell us we could be interviewed now. Some people who were deemed not good enough didnt get the shoulder tap....noticably the beer drinker didn't so be warned. Interview was fine, pretty much like any other interview, then we left, all a bit shocked at the whole operation. Got a call today saying would like to see me again but turned them down flat.

and after reading some of the posts on here i'm very glad i did
