MSN: Family home prices 'rise £91 a day'
Homeowners with family properties have seen the value of their houses rise by around £91 a day during the past year, research has indicated.
Move consultant job
Submitted by visitor on Wed, 25/08/2010 - 18:54.I am in the process of applying for a position as a move consultant - so far it is unclear to me what the specific job roles are. Would I basically be a glorified call centre worker, just on the phones all day?
are you expected to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week consistently?
Also I heard that payment is done pro rata and ranges from £15-40k, that seems like such a massive range and If I was to move to London I would need to know that I could absolutly take home enough to cover my lving costs.
My Name is Foxton and I object to the name of this site
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 23/08/2010 - 23:41.Excuse me. Yes there is not a doubt in my mind that you are not talking about ME Specifically.
I do not know these Foxton, no idea if we are related even.
But still, to say "WEHATEFOXTONS" is a bit over the top.
My niece found this and was all upset, are they going to blow us up like 911?
Maybe "WEHATEFOXTONREALESTATE" would be more appropriate.
I wonder if there is a law that stops me from taking names found on this board and starting up, wehate(surname) and see where that gets me.
Please, remember the internet is WORLD WIDE and you are slandering people you do not know!
ALL ESTATE AGENTS- A ROYAL COMMISSION AND F.S.A. REGULATION.
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 16/08/2010 - 21:30.I found that wherever they lived (though especially in London) and whatever age they were most of them had found dealing with estate agents was a murky business. From the elderly couple selling there house to the financially strapped student trying to find accomadation in London it appears estate agents are an unscrupulous bunch at best.
Most Of You Don't Know What Your Talking About
Submitted by visitor on Sun, 08/08/2010 - 08:56.I have been a letting agent for fives years which is long time in this industry.
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY 90% of the time when things go wrong it usually because the landlord is not keeping his promise.
The problem is tenants can never see it that way and they think you are the one who is dodgy.
Foxtons Standard Tricks
Submitted by ferraria on Thu, 08/07/2010 - 14:35.I let myself be foxton-ed twice in a year. Last year we had an offer accepted on a property, got mortgage/solicitor (and fees) only to be told an offer had been received at the asking price. We didn't budge, and I just found out the property hasn't changed hands since we offered on it! I'll never found out what happened, but if they tell you a larger offer as been received, walk away.
Last month, I saw a flat in my block, valued at 100k over its real value (I checked other sold prices, nothing ever sold for that figure). Made a much lower offer, accepted, then they tried to do the same trick as last year, and I just felt sorry for myself for giving them another opportunity...

Submitted by visitor on Mon, 21/06/2010 - 19:07.Has anyone else had the experience of Foxtons finding a buyer, agreeing a price, telling you they had a mortgage offer & then coming back and saying the buyer's bank's surveyor won't value the property at the agreed price? Wondering if this is legitimate or a way of bargaining me down on price. (Price has already been reduced to match other recent sales in area with other agencies).
ShouldI work for Foxtons?
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 21/06/2010 - 17:49.Hi everyone.
Im going to be graduating from Uni this year and need a job. With the current crap economy there are fewer and fewer graduate jobs but Foxtons seem pretty confident I could easily get work with them. I was wondering what people's expericnes have been, particulary those who have joined them after Uni. many thanks
Professional clean charge when the flat we moved in was not "cleaned to professional standard"
Submitted by visitor on Sat, 05/06/2010 - 12:40.we moved in a flat two years ago via Foxtons, on the day we moved in the flat was not cleaned to a professional standard, there were sticky stains in the kitchen cubboards and dust bunnies behind every furniture, etc...
We are moving out and advised them and just received a letter saying that we can either arrange professional cleaning or have it done via them at a cost of 200£.
Very weirdly, it says in our contract in the Deposit section that
"The Landlord may deduct monies from yhe Deposit to compensate the
Landlord for losses caused by any or all of the following reasons:
- [...]
- any professional cleaning costs, provided the Property was in good
clean order at the start of the tenancy"
charging 24£ for a reference letter?
Submitted by visitor on Sat, 05/06/2010 - 12:38.We asked for a reference from our landlord at the end of our tenancy and received subsequently a letter advising us of a £20 +VAT for this service, this was never advised when we requested the letter and there is no mention of this in our tenancy agreement or on their site.
Is this legal??

I have an interview with alexander hall
Submitted by visitor on Sat, 05/06/2010 - 12:10.Hi,
Just wondering if anyone here works for alexander hall? I have an interview with them next week for a role as a mortgage adviser.
I have a few questions, what type of questions would they ask in the interview? what are they looking for? I haven't been interviewed for a long while now.
I know their would be a mixed response but i need a job.
Regards,
John
Foxtons Viewings
Submitted by visitor on Tue, 01/06/2010 - 15:39.1. not be under the shower,
2. clean the flat,
3. do the dishes, and
4. (very importantly) hide any possible embarrassing items such as my knickers (which were on display on the floor).
Needless to say I think these poor people probably won’t pick our flat as their future home.
Treat them the same way!
Submitted by visitor on Wed, 26/05/2010 - 15:11.I used to call them for a valuation and then "forget" about it or arrange a viewing and then not turning up... and they get pretty mad, you know?
They once told me: you have to call us in advance if you intend to cancel a viewing!!! we cannot afford to waste time!!
I just laughed out loud down the phone that day, so funny!
And the funniest bit is that you still are a potential buyer and you will always be able to use their service when needed.
It will only be as bad as usual.
Cheerio!

Submitted by visitor on Fri, 21/05/2010 - 10:26.Trying to buy from FOXTONS
Submitted by visitor on Wed, 19/05/2010 - 11:42.I viewed a property yesterday which while lovely was at least £50k overpriced. The property I checked on mouseprice.com has been on the market for 80 days and in that time I was told there had been no offers on the flat. For London this is a long time to be stuck on the market. I was not surprised as it needs a whole lot doing to it and if you were to buy at asking price or slightly below you would never get your money back, when resell was wanted.
Pinner Foxtons - name & shame who NOT to deal with
Submitted by visitor on Sun, 09/05/2010 - 15:38.I've been stupid enough to work with Pinner Foxtons for 3 years+ now - and would totally recommend anyone against using them in the Harrow area unless - in fact don't use foxtons if you don't have too!
The reason I've been stupid enough to renew is literally because I've struggled to get my property rented thru other agents but I've decided I'll let my property privately from next year and not thru any estate agents.
For those of you that are thinking of using Pinner Foxtons - let me warn you that the following individuals are just looking out for themselves and do not have your interests or your properties interest at heart.
Note some of these individuals may work in other foxtons offices now or have left the company:
Foxtons are not the only rubbish real estate agency...read on...
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 03/05/2010 - 16:23.North Londoner also hates:
TATLERS of Muswill Hill (especially one particular jobsworth whose name starts with C) - because they are arrogant and despise even the most well-behaved tenants
SAFFRONS - for never, ever returning your calls - rubbish customer service
OLIVERS NW5 - their employees are lunatics - there used to be some hilarious stories on the web about one with name starting with A
CHRISTO & CO - do not give a hoot about their tenants secuirty, even when poor secuirty (their responsibility) has allowed multiple breakins. Also slowwww to respond to everything
BALCK CATS - abuse paring regulations by using deceased people's blue badges...these people have no shame, no morals, completely self interested.
Estate agent advertising: I am sick of seeing Foxtons' yellow and green signs...they're a blight on the landscape
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 03/05/2010 - 16:09.I hate real estate agents advert boards. I partoiularly hate Foxtons' boards because they are the most common ones I see in north london.
IF YOU HATE THESE BOARDS TOO, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORORITY TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY'RE ENFORCEMENT POLICY IS ON THIS MATTER. e.g., Islington will fine the agent in certain circumstances.
Morgan Randall are just as bad
Submitted by visitor on Fri, 23/04/2010 - 19:35.Morgan Randall, just as bad, have an office in Canary Wharf, can never get in contact with them when after the rental deal was done,
they did the same con, as Foxtons - shoed me a 12 month contract then changed it to AN 18 MONTH ONE WITH NO BREAK CLAUSE TOO,THUS ME PAYING THEM MORE COMMSION . . . .
don't forget the owner of Foxtons is worth millions and did some tax evasion and scaming etc and nearly or did go prison,
Business with no conscience
Submitted by visitor on Mon, 19/04/2010 - 23:21.There must be something fundamentally wrong with the morals of the business world. The most discredited and maligned company in the country runs at a deficit and the constituent shareholders collectively owe the banks £360,000,000. There are 2.5 million people unemployed and living close/below the poverty line.
These grubby neanderthals continue to work out of over priced offices and swan around in Minis and exercise the lowest form of commercial acumen possible.
This is one of the greatest social injustices of modern times
Finding a House for Rent
Submitted by Mcdaddy on Wed, 14/04/2010 - 19:19.problem after problem after problem
Submitted by visitor on Sat, 10/04/2010 - 09:27.So pleased to find this site, would love to rally some funds together to put some of this feedback in the printed media so people have to read it... I've never despised an organisation as much as this one.
We pay for a furnished flat... it isn't. The washer and dishwasher both broke in november, it took until March to fix them and when we threatened to stop paying rent until it was done, they threatened us right back. now the boiler is breaking every other week, and of course we're getting the same sort of outstanding service we expect from foxtons.
